About IF Insurance Brokerage

Insurance built around
what you have at stake.

We look at insurance with a potential loss in mind. If something goes wrong, what will this policy actually do for you? That question guides how we assess a risk, approach the market, and negotiate the coverage.

IF is a family brokerage based in Monsey, New York. We arrange commercial and personal insurance, with particular experience in real estate, Jewelers Block and fine arts, marine, and e-commerce. Whether it is a family business or a large portfolio, we take the time to understand what is at stake.

Our principal

Isaak Friedman.

Isaak has been in insurance for close to two decades. What he enjoys most is getting to know his clients, understanding what they have built, and helping them protect it. When a client has a loss, he takes it personally and stays involved through the claim.

Before his insurance career, Isaak was involved in substantial commercial real estate transactions. He understands the practical concerns of buying and owning property, dealing with lenders, and getting the insurance right.

Isaak grew up in Europe as the son of a jeweler, and he still loves the trade. He appreciates a beautiful piece, the craftsmanship behind it, and the work that goes into building a jewelry business. His passion for jewelry comes through in the questions he asks and the care he takes with a Jewelers Block policy. He understands the value of the goods and the trust involved in handing them to a setter, sending them on memo, or shipping them across the world.

Trust matters to Isaak on both sides of a policy. He values honest, lasting relationships with clients and carriers, and has built his reputation by being straightforward, doing the work, and keeping his word.

Leadership

Pinchas and Mendy.

Isaak’s sons, Pinchas and Mendy, bring their own interests and experience to the business, with the same sense of responsibility to its clients.

Executive Vice President

Pinchas Friedman

Pinchas works on improving how the brokerage runs, building relationships with markets, and finding better options for clients. He spends time understanding how businesses operate and where their insurance may fall short.

He leads IF’s work in e-commerce and product liability, including accounts with several companies, brands, or sales channels. His focus is on understanding how those pieces fit together and getting the coverage to reflect them.

Alongside his work at IF, Pinchas studies medical science at university. That brings another perspective to his interest in healthcare businesses, professional liability, and the risks that come with specialized work.

Finance

Mendy Friedman

Mendy oversees the brokerage’s finances, drawing on his training in accounting and finance. His keen eye for detail and careful approach to transactions and recordkeeping help keep the firm’s finances accurate and organized. He values honesty and clarity, supporting the financial stability of the business as it grows.

Both are involved in the day-to-day work. Clients can speak directly with the people working on their account.

Our mission

Get the coverage right.
Be there when it matters.

Our job is to understand what you need to protect, arrange coverage that makes sense for the risk, and stand beside you when you need to use it. That responsibility continues long after the policy is placed.

We ask questions because the answers can change the coverage. Where is your inventory kept? Who is responsible while goods are in transit? What does a contract require? What would keep the business from reopening after a loss? We want those conversations before there is a claim.

Underwriters know the care we take with the clients and risks we bring them. That trust, together with access across specialist markets, gives us a strong basis to negotiate coverage and competitive premiums. We compare the options carefully, look for sensible ways to combine protection, and work on wording where the standard policy falls short. Good insurance should reflect what you need without unnecessary cost.

That work has helped our clients save millions through better placements and rates, and recover millions on claims. We have helped get difficult claims paid, including claims that were initially denied. We help clients understand the coverage, work through the difficult decisions, and advocate with the carrier for payment under the policy.

We value clients who are open with us and relationships built on trust. In return, we are direct about what we recommend, what a policy covers, and where its limits are. You should understand what you are paying for and know who to call when something happens.
